Invitations & Requests

For Faculty:

I am happy to visit courses to present highlights from my published work. These presentations may feature a published article or a survey of my Spectacular Listening book, which encompasses case studies about listening, disability, and digital cultures.

If you’re seeking guidance for your students about administrative jobs, alt-ac careers, or skill development beyond the tenure-track faculty model, then I’m happy to talk with you about options for a course visit, workshop, presentation, etc.

For Students:

If you’re seeking a letter of recommendation, then I ask that you send me an email that contains the following: courses you took with me, angle for the letter, due dates, and relevant application documents (e.g., resume or C.V.). I typically need four weeks advance notice.

For students outside of Brown University, if you’re seeking guidance on administrative jobs, alt-ac careers, or skill development beyond the tenure-track faculty model, then I’m happy to talk to groups or participate in panels. I do not offer advising on a one-on-one basis, but I’m always happy to visit a campus or conference . (For Brown University students, please see my Brown institutional page for more info on what I can provide to current students.)

For Potential Collaborators:

I am always looking for opportunities to collaborate on articles for academic or popular press outlets, when time permits. If you have an idea, then I welcome the outreach!
